LOS ANGELES, CA — After a grim few months of writing a spec script, attempting to write a pilot and churning out new material for her monthly sketch show, aspiring comedy writer Jackie Rae Aubel came to the conclusion that nothing, in fact, is funny. “It‘s weird’,” Ms. Aubel remarked to reporters stationed outside of her Valley Village residence. “A couple of months ago, I found a lot of things funny. Today, I tried to make a joke about Trump — like everyone else — and found that I didn’t find the topic remotely funny.” In addition to finding absolutely no humor in today’s political climate, Ms. Aubel also commented on how she hasn’t genuinely laughed out loud in months. She even tried entertainment suggestions from friends. After watching the strongly recommended movie A Fish Called Wanda, Ms. Aubel reported that she didn’t crack a smile at any point during the entire film. As her entertainment preferences have shifted to darker shows like ‘The Sopranos’, ‘The Wire’ and for some reason, ABC’s ‘Once’ (an episodic series about fairytale characters living in modern times), Ms. Aubel has begrudgingly accepted the undeniable truth that she no longer understands or recognizes humor and must retire from her short-lived comedic ‘career’. “Is it considered a career if you never made any money doing it?” Ms. Aubel asked as she sighed heavily and closed the doors on questioning reporters. When asked where she’ll go from here, the 27 year-old who runs solely on Stumptown’s french roast and a crippling fear of failure said that she’ll probably double down on her marketing career.
